Harvest Time
Here are some fruits and veggies we picked the other day. Always cool to get them from the backyard rather than the grocery store. Just for fun, we chilled them in the van refrigerator... why not?

Avila Beach, CA
Our very first trip with Gypsea was to Avila Beach and it
was amazing! After we picked her up from
GoWesty, we drove right to the campsite at Port San Luis to set up. We decided to camp up high away from all the commotion and this proved to be the best, most relaxing, decision. It was so peaceful and as I started drifting away towards a nap, I sent this email to GoWesty:

I'm about to crash out for a nap in my GoWesty camper for the first time. The extra thick cushion is super comfortable! Oh my gosh... we just love this camper!!!

Thanks to the entire crew at
GoWesty for all their hard work. Thank you so much for helping us find the
perfect fit. We'll definitely keep in
touch and keep you updated.
Have a great weekend,
Lindsay

It was so unbelievably calming to fall asleep to the sounds of seals
barking and waves crashing. Although it
was a short trip, it was perfect. We
drove through Morro Bay (this is where we sailed all the time when I was a baby)
and made a quick stop at Tobin James Cellars. We even managed to squeeze in a birthday celebration for my uncle!
The only downside was that we had to leave early because I had to write a paper on hearing science for graduate school. NOT!!!... thanks to GoWesty's suggestion to install a power inverter, I was able to get 100% on a paper that I wrote in a van at the beach! Love it!

Memorial Day
This weekend seems like the perfect time to begin this blog. We have been keeping the newest member of our family somewhat of a secret for a couple of months, but it's time we start sharing her adventures. Gypsea has already made quite a few trips to the Bakersfield National Cemetery and although it never gets any easier to venture to this destination, we feel engulfed in peace and are comforted by others each time we arrive.
Today my mom and I paid tribute to those who severed our
country by attending a Memorial Day Service at the BNC. The keynote speaker was an Army Veteran who
concluded his speech by paraphrasing the ending to the poem "Out, Out-"
by Robert Frost...
And then -
the watcher at his pulse took a fright.
No one
believed. They listened to his heart.
Little -
less - nothing! - and that ended it.
No more to
build on there. And they, since they
Were not the
one dead, turned to their affairs.
So as difficult as each day may be, today was a reminder
that we must go about our "affairs" as joyously as possible in order
to make it worth wild for those who have sacrificed and given us freedom. It is so difficult to continue on when a loss
has occurred, but we hold the ones we love in our hearts and continue on until
we meet them again. Gyspea will make
sure we have awesome stories to share once we are all reunited together again in
Paradise.
